Collection: Marked Suspect in 1891

Fourteen sheets carry a species Dufour marked suspect in 1891 — the third of his three marks, and the one that is neither a recommendation nor a warning.

It is the most interesting mark in the atlas because it records a hesitation. A naturalist in Paris looked at a mushroom, declined to call it edible, and declined to call it poisonous, and the printer set that down. The accepted name beside each figure is where the intervening century shows up.
