Every species read from the plate itself and transcribed by hand — Latin binomial, French vernacular, and the 1891 edibility mark as the printer set them. Not copied from a catalogue.

Planche LXXII from Atlas des Champignons Comestibles et Vénéneux — the Atlas of Edible and Poisonous Mushrooms — by Léon Dufour, Paris 1891.

  • N° 161. Cyathus sericeus — Cyathus soyeux
  • N° 162. Cyathus crucibulum — Cyathus creuset
  • N° 163. Tulostoma mammosum — Tulostome à mamelon
  • N° 164. Scleroderma vulgare — Scléroderme vulgaire

What you receive

  • One JPEG file, 2550 × 3300 px
  • US Letter, 8.5 × 11 in, at a true 300 DPI
  • Quarter-inch trim margin on all four sides
  • sRGB, prints on any home printer

Set on a letterpress-style page carrying the species names, the plate number, and the 1891 source, in the manner of the original.

Printing

Print at 100% — never “fit to page”. Full 300 DPI at 8.5 × 11, and prints well up to 16 × 20 at lower resolution for framed wall art.

A note on the edibility marks

A historical document. Nomenclature and edibility assessments have changed considerably since 1891, and several species this atlas marks comestible are now known to be toxic. Not a foraging guide.
