Collection: Marked Edible in 1891

Fifty of Dufour's eighty sheets carry at least one species the printer marked comestible — edible — in 1891.

The mark is transcribed exactly as it appears and always with its year, because that is what it is: a record of what a French naturalist believed in 1891. Several species marked edible in this atlas are now known to be toxic, and the accepted name beside each figure is where a hundred and thirty years of correction shows up. Nothing here is a foraging guide.
